Frequently asked questions
The most frequently asked questions and their answers
Do I need an account?
Yes. Creating a Guardely account lets you securely save ZIP reports, export PDFs/CSVs, and come back later to compare new trends without re-purchasing the same area. An account also keeps your billing history and report downloads in one place, which is helpful for lenders, journalists, and investors who run multiple ZIPs over time.
Where does the data come from?
ZIP reports are built from U.S. law-enforcement feeds, sheriff blotters, and federal crime and population data that Guardely normalizes into consistent monthly counts. The platform focuses on official public-safety and demographic sources rather than scraped blogs or rumor boards, so you can cite trends with confidence in reports and stories.
Can I embed the chart on my blog?
You can freely reference ZIP-level stats and screenshots in your articles as long as you credit Guardely as the source, but the interactive dashboard itself is not embeddable today. For cleaner visuals, many writers export the PDF or CSV, build their own charts, and add a “Data: Guardely ZIP Report” note in the graphic or caption.
What if my rural ZIP shows “insufficient data”?
Some low-population ZIP codes do not generate enough monthly incident volume for a statistically honest five-year trend line, so Guardely flags them as “insufficient data” instead of guessing. In those cases, you can widen the lens to a nearby ZIP, city, or county to understand broader patterns, or pair the limited chart with qualitative context from local agencies.
